DIY Painted Mini Crate

Written By: Fanny Lau

Looking for inspiration for a weekend project?

There are endless ways to use a mini wooden crate. You can store your make-up essentials, use it as an electronic stand, for craft supplies, for gift giving – the ideas are endless! The best part is you can simply paint it a single colour for coordination or make it as detailed as you want it to. I picked up the mini wooden crates at Michael’s for $1.50 each.

Supplies

  • Mini wooden crate
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Pencil (optional)

Step 1:
Decide what colour and/or design you want your wooden crate to be. Once you’ve decided the base colour, layer newspaper on your surface of choice, and paint as many layers as needed until opaque.

Step 2:
If you’d like to add a design to the crate, wait until the base layer is dry, and outline the design by pencil on top of the base layer, then paint your heart out.

Step 3:
You’re done!
